How to calculate a solar return
How to calculate a solar return helps verify birth, return, time zone and location before interpreting; The annual map needs reliable data and does not determine what will happen.
What to look at first
The calculation needs to correctly convert the local time of birth, the historical area and the exact time of return. The chosen place locates astrological houses and angles, but does not change the position of the Sun in the return.
An everyday example
Before interpreting, compare the input data with a time source and note any uncertainties. I described a real scene, its conditions and the decision that followed. Do not use the map to fill in biographical data that was not communicated.
Reading method
| Layer | What it adds |
|---|---|
| Input | Date, time, time zone and location used |
| Structure | Angles, rulers, houses and concentrations |
| Connection | Contacts with the natal chart and transits |
| Experience | Behavior, context and available alternatives |
What not to claim
An annual theme is not an event. Without a reliable time, leave out houses and angles. If the location changes, explain which part of the calculation changes. A responsible interpretation includes supporting evidence and acknowledges exceptions.
Next steps
Compare the focus with the natal chart and record what you learned during the cycle. Return to this page to revisit your question, rather than seek a retrospective prediction.
Boundaries
A solar return does not diagnose, predict inevitable events or make decisions for you. It is an annual symbolic tool shaped by data and context.
