Mercury in Cancer combines thought, language and learning with memory, tone and a sense of security. It does not guarantee empathy or exact memory. The question itself is how to care for the bond without treating an emotion or a memory as if it were all the data available.
Before answering, check
You can remember the tone of a previous conversation and use it to interpret the current one. That memory can detect a pattern, but it can also advance a conclusion. Separate what you heard, what you remember, and what you are assuming; Then ask what the other person meant.
